We don't do cookie-cutter. We've never been cookie-cutter. What started as late nights and live funk at one of Chicago's most iconic clubs turned into a decade-long passion for making every wedding feel like the best concert you've ever been to.

Bassist. Bandleader.
The kind of musician who gets a stellar review in Bass Player Magazine, opens for WAR and Bob Seger, collaborates with members of Kool & The Gang and Fishbone — and then channels all of that into making sure your wedding is the greatest night of your life. Mike hears a setlist the way a director sees a film, placing every song with intention, and building every transition toward the next moment.
Beyond Mike, the funk side of the business is also handled by Alysha Monique (band leader, lead singer, and music director), Amber Ronae (band leader, lead singer, and music director), and DJ Servaun (bandleader, DJ extraordinaire, and DJ music director).

She’s the operational mind behind the music. Where Mike sees the creative possibility, Marisa builds the infrastructure — the timelines, the vendor coordination, the client communication that keeps every detail on track without making things feel corporate. Planners love working with her. Couples trust her. And nothing slips through the cracks.
In addition to Marisa, Emily Gonyou (administrative director) helps ensure the whole Funktastic operation runs like a well-oiled machine.

We've played hundreds of weddings and when the dance floor fills up, we still get as hyped as we did the first time. It never gets old.
