New Look, Same Fire: Chicago’s Wedding Live Band Just Got a Major Upgrade

If you’ve been following Funktastic Productions for a while, you might notice things look a little different around here. New logo, colors, and website. A whole new visual identity built from the ground up.

And while the look of our brand has changed quite a bit, we promise the substance and the foundation of who we are hasn’t changed at all.

We’re still the same wedding live band that started on the club stages of River North, playing original funk and soul at The Bassment and Untitled Supper Club until people started asking us to play their weddings. We’re still the same crew of 100+ Chicago musicians who play together so often they don’t need rehearsals. And we’re still the same husband-and-wife team (hey, Mike and Marisa here) who care way too much about your setlist, your timeline, and whether your guests are having the time of their lives.

So why the rebrand?

Because we outgrew the old one.

When we started Funktastic, we were a scrappy original band figuring out the wedding industry as we went. Over the last decade, we’ve grown into something bigger. We’ve played hundreds of weddings and corporate events across Chicago and the Midwest., we’ve built a roster of world-class musicians with credits on The Voice, American Idol, WGN, FOX, and NBC., we’ve earned The Knot Hall of Fame, WeddingWire’s Couples Choice Awards, and Zola Best of 2026, and we’ve launched a sister company, DJ Hybrid Chicago, for couples who want live musician energy with a DJ setup.

The music kept evolving. The brand needed to catch up.

What’s new

The new Funktastic identity was designed by Emily Foster Creative and pulls from the speakeasy-cool, jazz-rooted energy that’s always been at the heart of what we do. Think deep teals, warm ambers, art deco-inspired typography, and a visual language that feels as polished as a fitted jacket with dress shoes, and as fun as the person wearing it at the bar.

The new website is built to give you a better sense of who we are before you ever get on a call with us. You can explore our wedding packages, browse the full song list by genre, learn about our add-ons (yes, we do raised stages, concert lighting, LED video walls, photo booths, and cold sparks), and hear what our musicians sound like, all in one place.

We also restructured how we present our services. Instead of separate pages for bands, DJs, and corporate, you’ll now find dedicated pages for Weddings, Corporate Events, and Photo Booths, each with clear package tiers and pricing so you know what to expect before even reaching out.

What hasn’t changed

The musicians, the chemistry, the way we obsess over your setlist. The fact that we build every single night from scratch — your songs, your instruments, your vibe — and send you the setlist for review before the big day. The way our band leaders know your name, your story, and your must-play songs before they hit the stage. In short: the things that make us, us.

We still provide full production — sound, lighting, staging, mics — through one team. Marisa still makes your planner’s life easier. And Mike will never not get chills when the dance floor fills up for the first time at your event.

So while our look is new, the energy is the same as it’s always been. Guaranteed.
