Your High Energy Dance Band

Having a live band that knows how to engage the crowd, customize songs, and pack a dance floor can elevate the mood for your entire reception. While there’s no shade to DJs (none at all, in fact, we include a DJ in many of our packages!), there’s just something special about having a 6+ piece group of seasoned entertainers orchestrating a perfect night.

Funktastic is a collection of Chicago’s finest Black voices. We are NOT a random group of musicians thrown together a few weeks before your big event. We have shared the stage together for many years. We vibe off each other’s energy – and it is evident in every show we play!

Here’s how we keep your dance floor packed:

• We set the mood early. If you hire us for your reception kick off, we warm the crowd up with some of our favorite mood-boosting hits like “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire, and “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars.
• We read and play off the crowd. At our core, we are music lovers. If your guests interact with us, you better believe we’re doing the same!
• We mix up genres. This is the beauty of having a live band vs. pre-recorded tracks. We can change the tempo or style of most songs to fit the vibe you’re going for.
• We have a HUGE library of music ready to be customized for your dream setlist. Want to go from an R&B classic to something country? Motown to folk? Hip hop to rock? We can do it all.
